Act 1, Scene 1

So hamlet....

PLOT: interesting start really. We don't see hamlet, we don't see any main action, it isn't really exciting. But its supposed to get better. So we meet Bernardo and Fran_____, and marcellus and horatio. and we see a ghost. marcellus makes me think of the guy from Pulp Fiction, Marcellus Wallace. I doubt they're anything alike, but the name just made me think of it.

so Bern comes to replace Fran for watch, and then marc and hora come along to look for the ghost. lucky for marc and bern, the ghost does show up, otherwise they would have looked like idiots. horatio talks to the ghost, or tries to anyway, because the ghost doesn't have the common courtesy to talk back, or even give horatio his name. they think they know who it is, however, cause it looks like the dead king, dressed in battle armor.

Horatio asks the ghost if he has any treasure left buried, or a deed that needs to be done, or anything he needs to say, but the ghost says nothing. its a bad omen.

they talk about the king of norway, and some other stuff that doesn't seem to important, but oh well.

REACTION: yeah, so this is the beginning to one of shakespear's greatest, if not the greatest, plays. a slow start, but it feels like it will build into something good. it must, if so many people talk about it. from just skimming ahead, hamlet is going to show up, and hes going to find out about the king, and his mom, and how they're married now. and i bet that someone is going to tell poor hamlet about the ghost, and i bet that ghost will talk to hamlet, cause hamlet is important and nobody really cares about bern and marc.

this will make him think he's crazy. and then a whole mess of stuff happens, and i don't really know how the play goes but from what we've read (not much) its ok.
